Cydia not updating 5 0 1
Update: Redsn0w for 5.1.1 is now untethered, but you can also use Cydia to download “Rocky Raccoon” and untether this jailbreak after completion.
i OS 9.3.5 which is the latest of the i OS 9 range can be jailbroken using Phœnix.
The need to select older IPSW will likely be eliminated in an upcoming release of redsn0w, but for the time being it remains necessary.
Remember to boot tethered every time you the device turns on and off, that is done by launching Redsn0w, selecting “Extras” and choosing “Just Boot” from the options.
For Windows 7 and Vista users, be sure to run redsn0w as Administrator in “Windows XP Compatability Mode” if you encounter any errors, you do this by right-clicking on the redsn0w application and selecting XP Compatability.
This is currently the only way to unlock 05.14 and 05.15 basebands. If you are wondering how to use redsn0w to jailbreak and unlock, you are at the right guide.
This is a two stage process, first you jailbreak your i Phone with redsn0w and update the baseband, and then you unlock the i Phone 3GS or i Phone 3G with ultrasn0w 1.2 unlock.
The jailbreak remains tethered, for the uninitiated that means each time the i OS device is rebooted it will need to connect to a computer and boot with the assistance of redsn0w.
Compatibility for this jailbreak includes i OS 5.1.1 on i Phone 3GS, i Phone 4, i Pad 1, and i Pod touch 3rd and 4th gen.
